Psychological Therapies

I offer sessions online and in-person at The Practice (Poole, Dorset) and Royal Mail House (Southampton, Hampshire).  Once you contact me, I will send you some information and offer to meet for an initial assessment for us to make sense of your difficulties, and to get a sense of what you want to work on in therapy. Following this assessment I will write a summary letter outlining what we discussed and include recommendations for treatment options.

Hopefully we can then start meeting regularly for therapy. If not you will have the summary letter from the assessment and I would signpost you to an appropriate therapist if we agree the best type of therapy is not something that I can offer.

If we do agree to work together, we will meet for about an hour, usually weekly. In the first few sessions, we will go at your pace to get a deeper understanding of what has brought you to therapy, and develop a formulation to make sense of your situation, and importantly give us a clear plan for treatment, and which strategies may work best for you.

The overall number of sessions can vary greatly, but most clients attend between 12 - 24 sessions. â€‹

As a Clinical Psychologist, and BABCP accredited CBT therapist, I have received training in a number of therapies, so can adapt my approach to suit you and your needs. I draw on principles from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

I am unable to provide emergency or crisis support. Please see here for useful contacts if you require more immediate help.
